Social/Youth Groups
Are you a not for profit organisation or youth group looking for a fun activity to entertain your group?

Perhaps you are wanting the deeper aspect to Time 2 Dance and want to educate your group on the benefits of dance and social interaction?

Maybe you run a programme for those who are less able to have the benefit of regular dance lessons and want to give them the opportunity to experience the fun of dance? Perhaps you are a parent wanting more for your children.

Time 2 Dance has a program designed for school groups and social groups as a fun alternative sport. This programme teaches the students the basic foundations of swing, ballroom and Latin American dancing.

Jake's forte is in swing dancing and offers his students the chance to learn the original art of swing dancing as danced by the Jitterbugs and Lindy Hoppers in the 1930's and 40's. The life and enjoyment of swing music and swing dancing was one of the few forms of tension release during the Depression and World War II. Although the stresses in society are different today, we still need a way to relieve that tension. Thousands of people every year around the world are returning to swing.

Youth today are looking for a way to release and express their anxieties, frustrations, joys, and overcome their inhibitions. They need that sense of community, belonging and sense of worth. Youth continually turn to releases such as drugs, alcohol, sex and graffiti but these are destructive to themselves and society.

Dance is also another release that youth turn to as an effective release from society's pressures. Having worked with youth groups for over 15 years, Jake has drawn out the benefits of dancing as a social activity. Social interaction, respect for the opposite sex, etiquette and manners, and confidence in expressing one's own self, in constructive ways, are some of these benefits.

Jake has taught recently at the following schools.
Middle Kinglake Primary School... Preps to Grade 6.
Hampton Park Secondary College... Year 9.
Avila College Glen Waverley... Year 10.
Doncaster Secondary College... Year 10.
Altona Secondary College... Year 9.
Fintona Girls Grammar, Balwyn... Year 10.

Within the positive atmosphere that Jake creates during the lesson time, groups are open to express themselves more freely and enjoy the freedom of movement to music. Give Jake a call to discuss the needs of your group.

Lessons can be taken as 'one offs' for just a fun activity or in blocks with a specific purpose in mind. The lesson blocks are structured in groups of four to fit school terms. Each lesson goes for 45 minutes and can be taken over four weeks or two weeks with double lessons.

For further information or a quotation, please e-mail or phone Jake.

Lessons are charged at group lesson rates. Discounts offered for lesson blocks.
