| Jake runs various classes around Sydney including Castle Hill, Cronulla and Broadway. These classes cater for the beginner to the advanced dancer. The beginner students learn in a relaxed and fun environment where the moves are broken down into simple forms. As a student progresses in their dancing, the moves become flashier and the general styling is incorporated as well as having the freedom to develop their own style. Jake also teaches the more extreme side of swing, commonly referred to as Jitterbug, which incorporates aerials, or airsteps as they were originally called in the 1940's.
In Jake's lessons he encourages breaking down social barriers such as age and social status. Jake's classes have students as young as 12 up to mid 60's, and the students come from differing careers such as university students, doctors, librarians, policemen and tradesmen, all enjoying swing. |
